spirits of spiritsA many-yeared journey. This ongoing group of work is about atmosphere, and one's spirit and light. It began in 1996 when I began interviewing different artists and friends about their totem animal and then photographed them posing as their animal. The photos and interviews guided me while I painted their "Animal Posture" portrait. I then continued a further interview series with artists about direct spiritual identity. Again, using photos and conversation as reference material, I painted a group of
portraits which I called "Numinous Marks and Remarks" (at this point I had interviewed myself two times!). I was allowing grace and intuition to guide me while painting with light. I currently move freely with paint between abstract and dream and figuration.
