This book, a gift from my husband in 2006, was given to him by a friend who found it nearby our loft at an abandoned church. It came with graffiti, damage, and much sacrilege to its original intent another viewpoint of the beginnings of Christianity. I began drawing and painting in it as a daily exercise, using it as a journal because the letterpress printing and handmade rag paper were so beautiful, and because the content was deeply spiritual and intellectual. Because of its severe damage, it begged for transformation. Thus began my journey into 226 pages, and using the book as art form.
